pOLyPhoNiCA Recorder Trio was formed in 2006. The Trio is committed to historically informed performance as well as advancing the recorder as a modern instrument through collaboration with composers. Current commissions include works by Steve Marshall, UK, and Robert Allworth, Australia.
The Trio is delighted to present exciting and innovative programmes in collaboration with the renowned artists: Robert Cross, countertenor, and harpist Robin Ward.
Artistic collaborations also include guest performances with recorder orchestras in the UK and Germany including Blockflötenorchester Ostfildern , Stuttgart, and Das Blockflötenconsort, Dortmund, and Chamber Recorder Orchestra of the West, Wirral Recorder Orchestra and Heart Of England Recorder Orchestra UK.
pOLyPhoNiCA released their self-titled debut album in August 2010, which features music from 14th Century monody and music by Henry VIII, Susato, Holborne, Genzmer, Allworth, Matheson and Sieg.
We are dedicated to providing workshops on recorder playing and performance practice to people of all ages through festivals, summer schools and programmes for junior and secondary schools.
