From Passion to Impact

Polyphonica Recorder Trio has performed exentsively in the UK with numerous concerts abroad in France, Germany and The Netherlands. Entertaining and informative programmes include music from the middle ages through to works commissioned by the trio. Polyphonica has premiered works twice in Paris by French composer, Jean-Christophe Rosaz. Other commisions include works by the UK composer, Steve Marshall, and Australian composers, Stephen Yates and Robert Allworth.

Polyphonica released their self-titled debut album in August 2010, which features music from 14th century monody and music by Henry VIII, Susato, Holborne, Genzmer, Allworth, Matheson and Sieg. Their second CD, Music for Countertenor and Recorders featuring the renowned countertenor, Robert Cross, will be recorded in 2017.

Featured Composer: Kishan is currently studying Composition under Mark-Anthony Turnage and Jazz Piano under Mike Moran at the RCM with a scholarship. Before starting at the RCM he received tuition from musicians and composers including Joshua Blackmore, Nick Weldon, Mark Bassey and Issie Barratt. Kishan regularly composed and arranged pieces for his school and county music ensembles, having played piano in a county big band and percussion for Northamptonshire County Youth Brass Band, where he went on to perform at the MFY National Festival in Birmingham. He has gained proficient knowledge in midi sequencing and lately has been exploring various synthesizers and sampling techniques, enabling him to experiment with electronic music as well as music production, and combining electronics with acoustic instruments in his composition.

Featured Performer: Robert Cross has been a Countertenor soloist since the age of 17. He has performed with choirs and as a soloist for BBC Radio broadcasts, CD recordings, television broadcasts, full scale orchestral concerts and solo recitals. Robert has performed many times with Polyphonica including concerts in the UK, France and Germany.
